Celtics End Cavaliers’ Winning Streak
The two teams with the best records in the NBA went at it on November 19th, when the 15-0 Cleveland Cavaliers and the 11-3 Boston Celtics clashed in Boston. The defending NBA champion Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum’s 33 points and 12 rebounds, handed the Cavaliers their first loss of the season by a score of 120-117.
Boston had a 65-48 lead at halftime, but Cleveland outscored the Celtics 40-28 in the third quarter. Boston fought off a late charge by Cleveland, sealing the win with a dunk by Al Horford with eight seconds left that made it 120-115. Ty Jerome sank a jumper as time ran out for the 120-117 final. Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland with 35 points, while Evan Mobley scored 22 with 11 assists.
The Cavaliers will host Boston on December 1st. The teams will also meet on February 4th and February 28th.
