In the sixth quarterfinal of the 2023 Celebrity Jeopardy! Championship, the celebrity contestants are: actor Dulé Hill, playing for All Rise; comedian Sheryl Underwood, playing for Pack Rat Foundation for Education; and actor Peter Facinelli, playing for the American Red Cross.

Peter finished in the lead with $1,600. Sheryl was second with $1,500 and Dulé was last with $1,300. All clues were shown.

Peter found the first Daily Double in “Best Picture Winners in a Nutshell” under the $1,000 clue on the 10th pick. He was in the lead with $3,000 now, $100 more than Sheryl in second place. He bet $500 and came up with “Steel Magnolias.” That was WRONG. (“Steel” threw him off.)

Sheryl got the last Daily Double in “Composer Playlists” under the $600 clue on the 24th pick of the round. In the lead with $5,900, she had $3,200 more than Peter in second place. Sheryl bet $3,000 and could only come up with the composer’s first name so she was WRONG.

Dulé found the first Triple Jeopardy! Daily Double in “Under the Hammer” under the $900 clue on the 13th pick of the round. He was in second place with $2,400, $1,000 less than Peter’s lead. He bet $400 and he was RIGHT.

Sheryl found the next Daily Double in “Right “U-R”” under the $1,500 clue on the 17th pick of the round. She was in last place at negative $1,000. Dulé had the lead with $5,500. Sherry figured she might as well bet the $1,500 allowance. “Go ahead, take the money,” she exclaimed. She guessed “friskur” anyway but that was WRONG.

Dulé finished in the lead with a runaway $9,000. Peter was next with $2,200. Sheryl was in third place with $200.

WHAT IS “A RAISIN IN THE SUN”?
“What happens to a dream deferred? / Does it dry up / like a raisin in the sun?” are the opening lines of Langston Hughes 1951 poem “Harlem”. In 1959, Lorraine Hansberry chose to borrow “A Raisin in the Sun” for the title of her play about the Younger family and their dreams of investing an insurance settlement in a more secure future. Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee starred in the original Broadway production as well as in the 1961 film version of the much-lauded play.
Sheryl got it right. She didn’t risk any of her $200.
Peter wondered “what the heck happened to all” his money. He bet and lost his whole $2,200. That’s what happened!
Dulé also got it right. He bet $1,000 and won the match with an even $10,000. Dulé Hill advances to the Semifinals. Sheryl and Peter each won $30,000 for their charities.
