WHO IS MOTHER TERESA?

Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu was born on 8/26/1910 in Skopje, the current capital of North Macedonia, which was part of the Ottoman Empire then. By age 18, she had decided to become a missionary so she left Skopje “to join the Sisters of Loreto, in Dublin, Ireland. There she chose the name Teresa after her patron St. Thérèse of Lisieux.
