Cavaliers Beat Bulls for 18th Win in Their Last 20 Games
Donavan Mitchell scored 30 points, one of six Cavaliers in double figures as Cleveland beat the Chicago Bulls 108-105 in Cleveland on Valentines Day. The Bulls led by 17 points at one time in the second quarter, but the Cavaliers closed the gap and took their first lead of the game at 10:40 of the fourth quarter. It was back and forth the rest of the way. Chicago’s Coby White, who led the Bulls with 30 points, fired off a potential game tying three pointer that rimmed out at the final buzzer and Cleveland claimed a 108-105 victory.
The Cavaliers improved to 36-17, and are the hottest team in the NBA, winning 18 of 20 since January 3rd. They are currently second in the Eastern Conference behind the Boston Celtics (43-12). Donavan Mitchell is having an outstanding season, and leads the team in scoring (28.3 ppg) and assists (6.3 per game). Power forward Evan Mobley (15.9 ppg, 10,2 rebounds) and center Jarrett Allen (15.6, 10.6) have nearly identical stats and are a force in the front court. The Cavaliers play defense, too, and are holding opponents under 110 points per game, second in the league.
The win over the Bulls was the last game for the Cavaliers before the All-Star Break. Their next game is February 22nd when they will host Orlando.
