A bittersweet win for Michael & Frank (1.55) because it was not enough to keep them in the game
So it was back to Boston for Michael & Frank. Sorry you guys got *that* close but at least you have nothing to hang your heads about… you did your best!
Round 3: KELLY CLARKSON
Only one person from each remaining team could play this round. That was Team MO’s Tony vs. Team WA’s Eboni
First 4: $5000 each. Fast Track: $10,000.
1. “My Life Would Suck Without You”
MO $16,000 WA $13,000
Tony took the lead with the lone solve
2. “Since U Been Gone”
MO $21,000 WA $13,000
Tony came in at 1.57 to Eboni’s 2.57
3. “Because of You”
MO $26,000 WA $13,000
Tony was the only one right again. He knows his Kelly
4. “Miss Independent”
MO $31,000 WA $13,000
Tony struck again: 1.16 to 1.51
FAST TRACK: “Behind These Hazel Eyes”
MO $31,000 WA $23,000
Eboni saved her team from a total shutout: 2.11 to 2.32
Tony certainly dominated that round but Eboni’s Fast Track win put Team WA in a much better position going into the next round, where the song values are double.
Round 4: R&B
First 4: $10,000 each. Fast Track: $20,000. High score goes on to try to Beat Shazam.
1. “MotownPhilly” (Boyz II Men)
MO $31,000 WA $33,000
And just like that, Team WA jumped back in the lead: 1.80 to 1.84
2. “Young Dumb & Broke” (Khalid)
MO $31,000 WA $43,000
Team WA with the only right title
3. “You’re Makin’ Me High” (Toni Braxton)
MO $31,000 WA $43,000
No one knew the title
4. “U Remind Me” (Usher)
MO $31,000 WA $53,000
Eboni & Stacy get the only right title for the second time this round
FAST TRACK: “Rock Your Baby” (George McCrae)
MO $31,000 WA $53,000
No one got it
Ooh! We hate to see the Fast Track money go unclaimed. But Eboni & Staci won the game on the 4th clue and the $20K wouldn’t have helped Tony & Scott win. It would have given them another $10K to take home but they’re still not leaving with empty pockets. They’re taking $15,500 with them. Congrats on that and so long, fellas!
One Million Beat Shazam Round – 6 songs
First 5: $25,000 each. They only get a shot at the million if they get all 5 right. There are no multiple choice screens and they have to know the song’s exact title before Shazam to be right.
1. GIRL GROUPS: “Buttons” (Pussy Cat Dolls) – As happens all too often, they blanked out on the first song title so the million is no longer an option
2. ’60s: “Runaround Sue” (Dion) – They got it $78,000
3. ALTERNATIVE: “Slide” (Goo Goo Dolls) – Another win! $103,000
4. PINK: “Just Like a Pill” – Another blank drawn
5. CLASSIC ROCK: “All Right Now” – They got 3 out of 5, beginning the round with $53,000 and finishing with $128,000.
Now Eboni & Stacy have to decide if they want to split with that $128,000 or if they want to risk it on another song. A right answer will give them $256,000, but a wrong answer will leave them with $64,000. Heh heh… we could call this the $64,000 question. It all depends on the category which is “Movie Soundtracks.” Eboni knew it was a lot of money to risk but she decided that when your opportunities come to you, you gotta go for it. They decided to roll the dice with Eboni at the helm. She knew “The Rose” by Bette Midler immediately. The line played was the intro: “Some say love.” That’s all Eboni needed to hear!
So Eboni was 100% right that you gotta go for it. Sometimes, it just goes your way and when you get an extra $64,000 for saying two words, that’s one helluva lifetime memory!
That’s it for Season 2 of Beat Shazam! Tune into Season 3 next year or go to BEAT SHAZAM’S CASTING WEBSITE to try to get on that stage. You could wind up playing for $25,000 a song!
