Reds Rookie Aristides Aquino Rips 11 Homers in His First 17 Games
If you haven’t done so already, add the Cincinnati Reds’ Aristides Aquino to the list of great hitting rookies this season. Aquino was called up from Triple A Louisville on August 1st. The 25 year old outfielder was 0 for 6 in his first two games, but has been on a tear ever since, especially with the home run ball.
In his first 17 games, Aquino hit 11 home runs. That includes one game he appeared in for the Reds in 2018. He did not hit a home run in that game, or his first two this season, so he has a string of 11 homers in 15 games through August 17th. (The Cardinals held Aquino without a home run on August 18th to make it 11 in 16 games this season).
His best game was a three homer performance against the Chicago Cubs in Cincinnati on August 10th. The Reds beat the Cubs 10-1 in that one.
In the month of August, Aquino is hitting .333 with 11 home runs, 22 RBIs, a slugging percentage of .930 and an OPS of 1.327.
