Against the Wall: Season One Finale
Well, talk about a big let down. The two hour season finale of Lifetime’s “Against the Wall” turned out to really be two separate episodes, “Second Chances” and “We Protect Our Own,” played back-to-back, but that was nothing compared to the cliffhanger ending, with Abby opening the door to the man she has decided to be with, and we don’t get to see whether that man was Brody or Danny!
What a drag!
The only good thing we can say is that the preview showing Abby in bed with Danny turned out to be a crazy dream she was having where she’s making love with Danny and gets up to get something. When she returns, Brody is in the bed!
“Second Chances” had two storylines going on. There was a hazing crime at the local police academy, and Sheila Kowalski’s decision to hire convicted felons to work in her new bakery because she believes in second chances and tax breaks. Her husband Don is less than thrilled. Don explains the meaning of a teardrop tattoo to his well-meaning wife. When an unsavory gang member shows up demanding to know the address of one of her new employees, Sheila gets rid of him by threatening him with her gun.
In “We Protect Our Own,” we had 3 stories playing out: Don’s former partner is being framed for the murder of his wife, Lina is considering staying home after her baby is born and her baby is going to be born any minute in an elevator so Abby has to deliver it (it was a baby girl); and the main attraction: Danny or Brody?
Brody takes Abby out on a date and they run into Dan who was out on a date with Sondra. Abby is a little miffed that Dan was not sitting home pining away for her. Brody is a little miffed that Dan is turning out to be a thorn in his side. They both want her to make a choice. And as we have seen all along, so does everyone else, but in this episode, it is her mom who decides to give her some concrete girl advice. Sheila says Abby isn’t being fair to Dan because she hasn’t had sex with him yet.
LOL! Can you believe that?
And as Abby prepares for a candle-lit dinner and romantic evening with the man of her choice, who should pop by but Mom! Abby shoos her out the back door, opens the front door and — that’s the end!
So who do you think it was? Sure seemed like it was Brody because Abby used her standard phrase on the phone to invite him over. “I need to see you.” Also, she may have interpreted the dream where Dan turns into Brody to mean he’s The One.
Where’s the conflict if she picks Dan? Brody is the only one who would have a real problem with it. Brody might turn out to be the cad Richie thinks he is and then they can break up and Abby can rebound to Dan.

When you compare “Against the Wall” to other series like the “Law and Order” franchises, it’s weird. We like when we get a little backstory on most of the Law & Order detectives and, yes — Yes! — we admit we got a little over-invested in Detective Bobby Goren, but for the most part, the story takes precedence. In “Against the Wall” the family dramas and love triangle are far more interesting than the investigations.

It really stinks to watch that show the whole season and then never knowing the outcome! I really loved Against the Wall! I guess they will make us another stupid reality show to watch! I don’t know about everyone else but I like to escape from reality occasionally!
