Aaron Rodgers Ignores Brett Favre’s Comments

Apparently Really Retired quarterback Brett Favre just can’t let it go with the Green Bay Packers.  In a radio interview with an Atlanta radio station, Favre said that his successor at Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers, has “tremendous talent”.  But then he went on to say that Rodgers “kind of fell into a good situation”, and that “the talent around him is even better than when I was there.”  In the coup de grâce, Favre said he “really was surprised it took him so long” to win a Super Bowl.

Rodgers responded to these backhanded “compliments” by staying above it all.  He said he was proud of his team that won Super Bowl XLV back in February, and that it “takes 53 guys to win a championship”.

Favre was with the Packers a long time, and the talent level varied over the years, but he certainly had plenty of good players around him and the Packers were in the playoffs a lot, winning Super Bowl XXI and then losing a close one in Super Bowl XXII.  Favre played well both times.

But there were other playoff games when he didn’t play so well.  There was the time Favre threw six interceptions against the St. Louis Rams in a 2001 NFC playoff and the Rams won 45-17.  There were multiple losses to the Dallas Cowboys.  There was the 2002 playoff game back against the Atlanta Falcons where a young Michael Vick ran circles around the Packers and Favre had two interceptions and a fumble in a 27-7 loss. We could go on…but perhaps the question should be something like this: with all the opportunities he had, why didn’t Favre win more Super Bowls?
