WHAT ARE THAILAND & TONKIN?

Indochina was a term originally coined in the early 1800s to refer to the peninsula east of India and south of China and the historical and cultural effects those 2 countries had on the area’s inhabitants. When the French began to colonize the area, the term was restricted to the area they controlled (which did not include the Kingdom of Thailand). Today, the entire peninsula still gets called Indochina although it is more proper to call it Mainland Southeast Asia.

The countries situated on Mainland Southeast Asia are Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar (Burma), Peninsular Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. The Gulf of Tonkin lies at the northwestern part of the South China Sea, off the coasts of Vietnam and South China. The Gulf of Thailand is located in the southwestern South China Sea, between the southwestern shores of the Indochinese Peninsula and the northern half of the Malay Peninsula.

Mark got it right. He bet $2,402 and finished with $9,602.

Rebecca just had question marks. She lost her $6,200 bet and was left with $2,600.

Courtney got it, too. She bet $8,100 and won the game with $17,700. Courtney Shah’s 6-day total is $96,958.

Congratulations Courtney. Nice winning streak. Fantastic performance.

  2. Howard says:

Mark was arguably the best player tonight. He likely wins if he hits either DD. He knew plenty of answers that I didn’t, including the final (all I could think of was Tonkin), but I got both of his DDs. Too bad he didn’t know Prohibition was repealed in 1933.

Shaking my head that no one knew a T-T word for temporary or fleeting is transient. A $2000 softball. But all 3 players were strong overall.

Now there’s only one question: Will Courtney pass $100,000 in Game 7?

  4. Richard Corliss says:

    Go Courtney!! WHOO!!!!

  5. Lou says:

Courtney definitely has improved her game today with six wins. So now, she will go for her 7th win though her playing style reminded me of Karen Farrell and Tim Aten. Tesla coils don’t swing they just shoot off jolts of electricity. Overall, I think there is a good chance that courtney might win her 7th and 8th game but we will see though. Hope you had a great holiday so far VJ

Man, those two daily doubles got Mark feeling stumped.

Courtney Shah is definitely winning big today! Now she has more than $86,000!

We finally have another 6 day champion in Courtney. She is now tied with Zach with 6 wins.
