Lane found the first Daily Double in “Weird Words” under the $2,000 clue on the 11th pick. He was in the lead with $8,600 at this point, $4,200 more than Liz in second place. He bet $3,000 and thought it was a hospital. That was WRONG.

Liz found the last Daily Double in “Music Terms” under the $1,200 clue, with 6 clues worth $10,400 left after it. In the lead with $10,400, she had $2,400 more than Lane in second place. She bet $2,000 and took a last second shot with staccato. That was WRONG.

In Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel, “Jurassic Park,” EPA investigator Bob Morris visits Dr. Alan Grant to get the goods on the Hammond Foundation’s interest in dinosaur research. Grant says “It’s because old John Hammond is a dinosaur nut.” Morris tells Grant that “over the last five years, Hammond has purchased enormous quantities of amber…” to the tune of that $17 million. Grant doesn’t know why. Bob Morris is one of the characters in the novel who didn’t make it into the 1993 award-winning Steven Spielberg film that triggered a world-wide dinosaur craze.

Liz Mccarthy said in the interview section her Mom was on Tic Tac Dough in 1959 and won $50K. The 50s Tic Tac Dough was known to be rigged, but whether LIz’s Mom was part of the rigging is not known. There was a LIz Mccarthy in 1981, who, with her mom Pat, won $120K in a month long run on the US version of Blockbusters as a family pair. Wonder if it is the same Liz.
Almost has to be. I did some googling and found out her mother was indeed named Pat.
Congrats on a triple solve by all the contestants. Also VJ, did you know that Crichton was the writer of medical novels like Contagion? He also created that medical drama ER on NBC that ran from 1994-2009. Also I wonder what is your favorite Jurassic park movie or novel VJ?
I’ve never read nor seen any of the Jurassic Park stuff all the way through, Lou. I like Jeff Goldblum a lot but I’m not into sci-fi that much.
Hannah wasn’t the only one that was happy about the comptroller reversal — that’s what I said too. 😀
