Sidney Crosby Scores 1100th Point As Penguins Beat Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 7th in a matchup of the NHL Metropolitan Division’s third and second place teams. First place, or a share of first, on the line for both teams. The Flyers had 79 points and the Penguins had 80, while the idle Washington Capitals were out in front with 81.
Pittsburgh had won the first two meetings with Philadelphia this season, and that string continued as the Penguins beat the Flyers 5-2. Sidney Crosby had three assists in the game and that third one was the 1100th point of his NHL career. Conor Sheary had a pair of goals for Pittsburgh, and the Penguins took over first in the division with 82 points. It was Pittsburgh’s third win a row offsetting a three game losing streak prior to this.
Pittsburgh has one more game with Philadelphia on March 25th, and will host Washington on April 1st. The Capitals will play the Flyers once more, in Philadelphia on March 18th.
