Gritty Celtics Grind Out a Win Over Cavaliers

After twice losing big time to the Cleveland Cavaliers and also losing their best player in Isaiah Thomas to injury for the rest of the playoffs, the Boston Celtics showed they can still win. Boston pulled out a 11-108 victory on May 21st in Boston as Avery Bradley hit a three point basket with 0.1 seconds left.

Earlier, it looked like another easy win by the Cavaliers, who won the first two games of the series by scores of 117-104 and 130-86. Thomas aggravated a hip injury in the Game 3 blowout loss, and the odds increased for a third straight post season series sweep by Cleveland. The Cavs had a 21 point lead in the third quarter on what looked like another dominating victory. But the Celtics scrapped their way back, as the Cavaliers appeared to go into cruise control too soon, and LeBron James had one of his worst post season games ever. James had just 11 points, and although Kyrie Irving had 29 and Kevin Love had another big game with 28 points and 10 rebounds, it wasn’t enough to overtake a determined group of Celtics. Marcus Smart led Boston with 27 points followed by Bradley with 20.

This is a reminder to the Cavaliers that they can’t get complacent against anyone this deep into the playoffs. Game 4 is on May on May 23rd in Boston.
