Thea found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Like a Rock” under the $400 clue on the 4th pick of the round. She was in the lead with $600, $400 more than Julia in second place. She was going to bet $600 but Alex reminded her that she could bet up to $1,000 so she went with that. Alas, the right response eluded her so she was WRONG.

Julia finished in the lead with $5,000. Thea was second with $2,800 and Jon was last with $800.
Round 2 Categories: Halloween Entertainment – Brit Bits – Plants with Animal Names – “Bing” – How Novel – The 50s
Thea found the first Daily Double in “Plants with Animal Names” under the $800 clue on the 10th pick. She was in second place with $6,000 at this point, $1,000 less than Julia’s lead. She bet $2,000 and she was RIGHT.
This flower shares its name with a character in Peter Pan.

3 clues later, Thea found the last Daily Double in “Brit Bits” under the $1,600 clue. In the lead with $9,200, she now had $2,200 more than Julia in second place. She bet $4,000 and took a guess with John. That was WRONG.

Thea finished in the lead with $13,200. Julia was next with $11,000 and Jon was in the red for $400 so he was out of the game at this point.
Only ONE of the contestants left got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHAT IS PODCASTING?
Apple CEO Steve Jobs fully explained podcasting in his 2005 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote. This is the part pertinent to today’s clue: “Podcasting of course is a concatenation of iPod and broadcasting. And what is podcasting? It’s been described a lot of different ways. One way has been a TiVo for radio–you can download radio shows and listen to them on your computer or put them on your iPod anytime you want.”
Julia wrote down iTunes. She lost her $6,601 bet and had $4,399 left.
Thea got it right. She bet a big $11,200 and won the match with $24,400. Nice going, Thea. We will be starting November with a new Jeopardy! champ.

The last time someone was in the negative, and is not around for Final Jeopardy!, mostly because they had a bad day, and resulted in a 2 person race is the exact opposite of today. Last time, it was a 2 man race, although the race is already sealed because 1st place had the game locked up, and 2nd place got to enjoy the 2nd place prize of $2,000 no matter what he did. Both of them got Final Jeopardy! right, and that was Seth Wilson’s 12th and last win. Today, it’s a 2 woman race and both ladies are in contention.

Steve Jobs death took away, imo, one of our true innovators and motivators. When he appeared on stage to introduce a new product what a feeling! You just had to have the product.

I still remember the 1984 Macintosh Super Bowl commercial.
I got a kick out of Thea’s chat story today about the urban moose in Alaska. It reminded me of this funny youtube I saw a few years ago with a little Jack Russell Terrier running around barking at a moose in Anchorage, where Thea is from. It’s long and the dog doesn’t even show up until about 2.5 minutes in the video. Here’s a link with the video starting near the end when a car pulls up, someone gets out and the little dog goes running after the moose.
