Trump Baiting Continues Unabated
Bobby Jindal is the latest presidential candidate to try to call attention to himself by attacking Donald Trump. Jindal called Trump a narcissist, an egomaniac, weak, shallow, insecure and various other things in a litany that concluded that Trump doesn’t read the Bible because he is not in it. We saw Tara Dowdell, a Democratic consultant, on “All In with Chris Hayes” saying that Jindal’s remarks were “witty.” (Here’s a link to a transcript of the 9/10/2015 episode).
Trump, in the meantime, is under fire for his comments in Rolling Stone that Carly Fiorina has less than a presidential face. “Look at that face!” Trump said to a Rolling Stone reporter as Fiorina appeared on TV. “Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president.”
That’s it. He didn’t say her face was ugly or weak or any of the specific insults, er… witticisms… that Jindal came up with in a transparent effort to raise his own profile. But that was enough to unleash an endless stream of articles and TV commentary. Trump claimed he was talking about her persona, not her looks and he wanted to know why everyone was jumping all over this when no one in the media ever comes to his defense when anyone attacks and/or mocks him. Both true and unfair.
It has been going on for months. Another thing Tara Dowdell said was that Trump’s response to Jindal showed that he can’t help himself. He lacks discipline. So it is okay to attack Trump but it is not okay for him to respond? Hogwash.
George Pataki, Lindsey Graham, Rick Perry, Jeb Bush have made comments ranging from idiotic to jackass. We’re not even going to go into Ben Carson’s recent transparent and very lame effort to use Proverbs to demonstrate that he is a humble and God-fearing man and Trump is not.
On Twitter, Trump said he didn’t really know Jindal who didn’t make the debate stage. Jindal responded that he had met Trump who had given him money so it’s not true that Trump doesn’t know him. “A fool and his money,” Jindal tweeted. So he takes money off Trump and then calls him a fool? That really says a lot more about Jindal than it does about Trump.
Jindal, by the way, did not make the cut for the second Republican debate which is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16th, at 8 pm EDT, with these 11 candidates on the main stage: Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul, John Kasich, Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina.
Jindal will be at the earlier table with Rick Santorum, George Pataki, Lindsey Graham and Rick Perry.
UPDATE: Rick Perry decided later on this day that he could read the handwriting on the wall and announced that he was suspending his campaign. Apparently, some people know when to fold ’em.
