Brewers Sign Francisco Rodriguez for the Fourth Time

The Milwaukee Brewers were shopping around this winter for bullpen help including a closer. The team had Jonathan Broxton, used as a setup man last year but a former closer on the roster as well as former closer Jim Henderson, who missed last season with an injury. There was some wheeling and dealing with the Philadelphia Phillies in an attempt to get Jonathan Paplebon. Left out of the equation was last years’ closer, Francisco Rodriguez, who was a free agent. Rodriguez had 44 saves in 2014 in his third tour of duty with Milwaukee. And he actually likes playing there.

Well, sure enough, the Brewers decided that Rodriguez would indeed be the guy again this year. This time they signed him to a two year deal, so Brewers fans won’t be going through this again next year like they did in 2012. And 2013. And 2014.
