Ravens’ Jacoby Jones Injured by Stripper

As reported by TMZ.com, Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones was injured on a party bus in Washington DC early on the morning of September 23rd.  Jones and some other Ravens were out celebrating teammate Bryant McKinnie’s birthday.  It seems that the partiers, including a stripper named Sweet Pea got on the bus around 3 a.m. and an altercation broke out.  Sweet Pea is alleged to have broken a champagne bottle over the head of Jones, cutting him (and no doubt leaving a sizable lump).  There’s no word on why Sweet Pea may have done this; perhaps she expected larger denomination bills from such a moneyed group instead of the standard $1 bills.  Anyway, for taking his lumps in the name of partying with wild women, we’ll give Jones this week’s Fred Smoot Award.

Smoot, you will recall, is the former Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings football player who was involved in the infamous Love Boat incident on Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota in 2005 when he was with the Vikings.  Smoot and some teammates took a party cruise on the lake, and were accompanied by some prostitutes. Smoot is alleged to have taken part in some, um, interesting activities with them.  (No we won’t go into detail, just Google it).  He also was accused of organizing the whole thing, a charge he denied.  Smoot released a statement via Reddit that he was not on the Ravens’ party bus.

Why would the now retired Smoot feel he needed to issue a statement that he wasn’t on that bus?  Back in September 2006, the NFL fined Smoot and one other Vikings’ player for their roles in the Love Boat scandal.  And who was that other player who was fined?  It was none other than Bryant McKinnie.
