White Sox Rookie Braden Montgomery Hits Game Winning Homer in MLB Debut
Outfielder Braden Montgomery had been having a good season in the minors, hitting .314 with 10 homers and 41 RBIs with the Chicago White Sox Double A and Triple A clubs. The 23 year old top prospect for the White Sox was called up to the majors on June 9th and made his major league debut in Chicago against the Atlanta Braves. His good season got even better.
Montgomery hit a two run homer in the 10th inning to give the White Sox a 6-5 win over the Braves. He went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs in the game; his other hit also drove in a run.
The White Sox had been a laughing stock the last couple of years with records of 61-101 in 2023, a godawful 41-121 in 2024, and 60-102 in 2025. Now, over two months into the 2026 season, Chicago is 35-31 and just a half game out of 1st place behind front running Cleveland.
