Kansas Beats #2 Iowa State in College Basketball
The teams in the number 2 position in the AP college basketball poll have not been too fortunate lately. On January 10th, Wisconsin beat then #2 Michigan 91-88, and now Iowa State, the team that replaced the Wolverines as the #2 team, lost to Kansas 84-63 on January 13th. It was the Cyclones’ first loss of the season.
Tre White led the Jayhawks (12-5, 2-2 in the Big 12) with 19 points and 10 rebounds, Darryn Paterson scored 16 and Melvin Council, Jr. added 15. Kansas hit 50% of its three point shots (12-24) while Iowa State (16-1, 3-1) was just nine of 27. Kansas jumped off to a 44-23 halftime lead and teams each scored 40 in the second half.
Iowa State will try to get back on track January 17th, when the Cyclones are at Cincinnati. Kansas will host Baylor on January 16th.
