Minnesota Wild Goalie Jesper Wallstedt has Third Shutout in Four Games
Rookie goalie Jesper Wallstedt is the Minnesota Wild’s backup goalie behind veteran Filip Gustavsson, but he’s taking advantage of each chance he gets to play. On November 22nd, the Swedish native was in net for Minnesota in the Wild’s game with the Winnipeg Jets. Wallstedt turned in a 32 save performance and his third shutout of the season in just his eighth game, and the Wild beat the Jets 3-0. Three of his last four games have been shutouts. Wallstedt improved to 6-0-2 on the season with a 1.94 goals against average and .935 save percentage. His three shutouts leads the NHL; he’s tied for second in save percentage and is third in goals against average (minimum of six games played).
The Wild improved to 12-7-4 on the season (28 points), and are third in the NHL Central standings behind Colorado and Dallas. Minnesota’s next game is at Chicago on November 26th. Winnipeg (12-9-0, 24 points) is in fifth place in the Central and is in action at Washington on the 26th.
