Broncos and Patriots Both Win Eighth Straight
It looks like we finally have a team that will end the Kansas City Chiefs dominance of the AFC West. The Chiefs have won that division nine years in a row, but after beating Kansas City 22-19 on a last second field goal by Wil Lutz on November 16th, Denver sits atop the division with a 9-2 record. The victory was Denver’s eighth straight. The Chiefs fell to 5-5, and are in third place, behind the 7-4 Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers and Broncos appear primed to battle it out for the AFC West title. The Chargers beat the Broncos in L.A. back in September—the last time the Broncos lost. The two will meet again in the regular season finale. Both the Chargers (on December 14th) and the Broncos (Christmas Day) will face the Chiefs in Kansas City. The Chargers beat the Chiefs in their season opener.
Denver was a Wild Card playoff team with a 10-7 record last year, but there is another team in the AFC that that is also 9-2 after finishing 4-13 the last two years. The resurgent New England Patriots beat the hapless New York Jets 27-14 on November 13th and share the lead with Denver for best record in the AFC. Like the Broncos, the Patriots have won eight straight. They lead the AFC East, with the Buffalo Bills in second at 7-3. New England beat the Bills in Buffalo earlier this season and will play again at New England on December 14th. Buffalo has won the AFC East five years in a row.
