WHO IS DR. DOLITTLE?

“The Story of Dr. Dolittle” was published in 1920, and can be read online as it is now in the public domain. Dr. Dolittle gets the message about the epidemic threatening the monkeys in Chapter 4.

In March 2018, Jane Goodall wrote an article for TIME, sharing her childhood inspirations for her life’s work. Hugh Lofting’s Dr. Dolittle was the first book she ever owned. Burroughs’ Tarzan and Kipling’s Mowgli also played a part in fueling her dreams, which were supported by her mother. Dr Louis Leakey, the famous paleontologist, gave Goodall the opportunity to make her dreams a reality.

It was written in advance of National Geographic showing Brett Morgen’s documentary, “JANE”, which is now streaming on Disney+.

Andrew got it right. He bet $4,610 and finished with $13,410.

Michelle didn’t have a response. She lost $5,000 and finished with $8,400.

Steven also got it. He bet $203 and won the game with $29,403. Steven Hoying is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Andrew was somewhat outmatched during the game, or perhaps he wasn’t at his best. Anyways, I performed somewhat below average in the game, and couldn’t score in FJ. Actually, I was never a fan of Dr. Dolittle, but that was me.

  2. Jason says:

3/3 on DD, but missed FJ. I said “Tarzan”.

Andrew looked tired to me. Likewise, I hope Steven was just tight from being the game first time; I hope he is more charismatic. I also thought that Michelle might have an outside chance at Second Chance, not her miss in FJ likely rules her out.

  3. Howard says:

Good game, Andrew finally met his match in Steven. FJ stumped me, I did get all 3 DDs, thought they were all fairly easy, triple stumpers unkind but should have known Tootoo’s career. I pointed out last week that Andrew probably should have lost one of those early games if his opponent had wagered properly. Ken J could have lost his first game if they’d ruled against him in FJ; he gave a generic response, something like Who is Jones? or similar. Just think how different his life would have been had he lost that game.
