WHAT IS LISBON?
The Oscar-winning film “Casablanca” (1942) takes place during WW2. Paul Henreid and Ingrid Bergman play Victor Laszlo and Ilse Lund. They are married although at one time, when Ilse thought Victor was dead, she took up with Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart). At the end of the film, Rick helps Victor and Ilse escape from Vichy-controlled Casablanca to neutral Lisbon. In the final scene, it says “Lisbonne, Tangiers, Casablanca” on the side of the plane.
The movie was filmed before Lisbon’s airport officially opened in October 1942. Werner Weiss, curator of Yesterland, busts the Casablanca Plane Myth, revealing how and where the final airplane scene was filmed.
Laurel thought it was Casablanca. She bet and lost her whole $3,800.
Nick went with Casablanca, too. That cost him $3,001 and left him with $7,799.
Susan tried Los Angeles. She lost $2,500 but won the game with $9,300. Susan Beachy is the new Jeopardy! champ.

So…
My local CBS affiliate has two channels. There’s a college football game on. They moved WoF to the second channel – but not J! The show usually on the serving channel is a 1 hour local news show which, in this case, they cut down to 30 minutes. So, of COURSE, the CF game is going over. Now, I don’t know what they are going to do. Irrational? Maybe rational? Just bugs me, mightily.
Yeah, nuffum. Major bummer.
In any case, I knew the film of FJ, but couldn’t recall the locale.
Can’t really concentrate on the balance.
But, I do really thank you for your site, VJ!!
They showed yesterday’s episode again here, so very annoying.
College football is on, can’t watch tonight’s episode.. that sucks.
We end the week with a triple stumper since today’s final was a tough one due to a geography clue.
This is the Movie Trivia clue that was on Monday’s Spoiler Talk post that helped me and Rhonda get today’s FJ!
($1000) You must remember this, it was Bergman & Henreid’s destination after leaving “Casablanca”
