Sixth Ranked Gonzaga Clobbers #8 Baylor in College Basketball Opener

The men’s NCAA college basketball season got underway on November 4th, and one game involved two teams ranked in the Top 25. If this game was any indication, #6 Gonzaga is a force to be reckoned with.

In a rematch of the 2021 NCAA Championship Game, Gonzaga hosted #8 Baylor in Spokane. Gonzaga lost that one, but this time they beat the Bears handily in a 101-63 blowout. Nolan Hickman led the way with 17 points for Gonzaga, who led by 19 at the half. Gonzaga shot 57.1 % from the floor, and hit 41.9% of its three point attempts. Baylor was just three of 21 from beyond the arc.

Baylor will have another tough test in its next game when the Bears host #16 Arkansas on November 9th. Gonzaga hosts Arizona State on November 10th. Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will host three more ranked non conference opponents in December; #23 Kentucky on the 7th, defending National Champion UCONN on the 14th, and #22 UCLA on the 28th.
