Los Angeles Clippers Open New Arena With Overtime Loss
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in L.A. since relocating there in in 1984. They have never had their own arena—playing at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, and the Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena), sharing the latter with the Lakers. But that has finally come to an end. On October 23rd, the Clippers opened the NBA season in their brand new arena, called the Intuit Dome. They hosted the Phoenix Suns.
The game was exciting, and was tied at the end of regulation. The storybook ending would be a victory for the Clippers, but the Suns won in overtime 116-113. Kevin Durant led Phoenix with 25 points, while James Harden had a double double for the Clippers with 29 points and 12 rebounds.
The Clippers will hit the road for games at Denver and Golden State, before returning home to host Portland on October 30th. They will then get another shot at the Suns, hosting Phoenix again on Halloween.
