The Dodgers are on an Eleven Game Winning Streak and Pulling Away in the N.L. West Race
The National League West leading Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the N.L. Central leading Milwaukee Brewers for a three game series August 15-17. But this battle of division leaders was all L.A. as the Dodgers swept the series, out scoring Milwaukee 14-3 in the process. It was the 11th win in a row for the Dodgers, who have won 15 of their last 16.
L.A. is starting to pull away in the West race, leading the San Francisco Giants by 10 1/2 games after the sweep of Milwaukee. A big part of this is the top of the Dodgers’ batting order. Lead off man Mookie Betts is hitting .295 with 31 homers and 81 RBIs, while the normal #2 hitter, Freddie Freeman is hitting .335 with 23 homers and 83 RBIs. Freeman is second in the league in runs scored with 109, and Betts is third with 102.
The Dodgers host the Miami Marlins for a weekend series August 18-20 before going on a six game road trip with three each in Cleveland and Boston. Mark your calendars for August 31st, when the Dodgers will host a four game series with the Atlanta Braves, leaders in the National League East. The Braves currently have the best record in the National League and the Dodgers are second.
