Back in October 2017, there was a big flurry of publicity for Kentucky Fried Chicken when a fellow named Mike Edgette realized and tweeted out the reasoning behind the “Finger-Lickiin’ Good” chicken company only following 11 people on Twitter. The 11 people were the 5 members of the by-then disbanded girl group Spice Girls, i.e. Mel B (Scary Spice); Melanie C (Sporty Spice); Emma Bunton (Baby Spice); Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice); and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) The 6 men they followed were named Herb (Alpert, Dean, Scribner, Sendek, Waters and Wesson). Collectively, it was an homage to KFC’s famous “11 herbs and spices” signature recipe.

At some point, someone must have realized that the inclusion of Ginger Spice implied that ginger was one of the “secret” ingredients. Geri Halliwell was dropped and replaced with Herb Jones.
