WHAT IS “THE THINGS THEY CARRIED”?
“The Things They Carried” is a collection of short stories by Tim O’Brien that was published in 1990. It is based upon O’Brien’s recollections of his time in the service during the Vietnam War. The book is studied in some high schools and in college. Common Sense Media’s website rates it appropriate for age 16 and older, although others object to it being assigned to students under age 18 because of its graphic violence, profanity and substance abuse. In other words, this is not a book about the glory and honor of war.
GoodReads has a collection of quotes from “The Things They Carried”
Lucas got it right. He bet $1,202 and finished with $4,802.
Avi had no FJ! response, just a thank you message. He lost $1,948 and finished with $6,652.
Jackson chose “A Farewell to Arms”, not a bad guess. He only lost $1,220 and won the game with $19,780. Jackson Jones is the first finalist. He mentioned in the chat that this was his second time at bat as a semifinalist and that Avi was the person who defeated him the first time.

Regarding FJ, I would have never read that book, and likely for the aforementioned reasons.
