Warriors Have Big Third Quarter to Topple Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals
The Golden State Warriors lost Game 1 of the NBA Finals after Boston scored a whopping 40 points in the 4th quarter of that game, while scoring only 18 themselves in the final period. Golden State turned the tables in Game 2, outscoring the Celtics 35-14 in the 3rd quarter of that game, while holding Boston to just 14 in a 107-88 win on June 5th in San Francisco.
Stephen Curry led the way for Golden State with 29 points and Jordan Poole scored 17 off the bench. Three other Warriors were also in double figures. Jayson Tatum scored 28 and Jaylen Brown had 17 for Boston, but starters Al Horford, Robert Williams III, and Marcus Smart each only scored two points apiece. Maybe the Warriors didn’t like Stephen A. Smith of ESPN saying in the post game show of Game 1 that the older Warriors looked like they couldn’t keep up with the younger Celtics, and stepped it up in Game 2.
The series moves to Boston for Games 3 and 4 on June 8th and 10th.
