WHO IS CATHERINE PARR?

I started the above video at Fact No. 8 when Catherine Parr was appointed to serve Henry VIII’s oldest daughter, Mary. No. 9 has her marrying the king and No. 10 says she got along well with all of Henry’s children: Mary (by Catherine of Aragon); Elizabeth (by Anne Boleyn); and Edward (by Jane Seymour).

All of the children’s mothers died before Henry VIII. Thus, they were all orphaned when the king died in 1547. Each took his or her turn as king or queen: Edward, then Mary and then Elizabeth. Mary and Elizabeth owed it all to Catherine Parr who convinced Henry VIII to restore them to the line of succession.

Joe only wrote down Catherine which was half right, but not the right half that would get him credit. He lost his $2,300 bet and finished with $100.

Kristen went with Jane Seymour, the woman Henry VIII married 11 days after Elizabeth’s mother lost her head. Kristen lost $750 and finished with $2,250.

Mattea also thought it was Jane Seymour. She lost $5,000 but she won the game with the remaining $14,400. Her 8-day total is $182,801.

I got FJ, thanks to Lucy Worsley and PBS. What’s coincidental is I said “Jane Seymour” first, and, then, immediately corrected myself. I also got the two TS’s on page 1, but, on page 2, less than 50%.

Mattea’s chatter was barely there today, which was a relief. She is def good on the button, I’ll give her that, and her knowledge base was ably demonstrated today. I was really rooting for Kristen, but, oh well! What is dearly needed, though, is better contestants playing against Mattea.

I also got all the triple stumpers on page 2 as well since many of them were pretty easy. Give Mattea’s strong knowledge and the streak she built since Amy Schneider and Matt Amodio, she needs a good challenge today.

  2. Louis says:

Did you know Catherine Parr was influential in the passing of the third succession act of 1543 thanks to King Henry VIII which got Mary and Elizabeth to the throne vj?

A good game today but still I would like to see higher scores for tomorrow. Two missed finals won’t hurt Mattea but she has joined the 8 game champs held by Jen Quail, Karen Farrell, Mackenzie Jones, Drew Horwood, Tom Nissley and Ben Ingram.

That was a tough FJ as we got a triple stumper.
