Supporting Cast: Los Diablos – Shameless
Here are some of the actors and actresses who appeared in “Los Diablos,” the tenth episode of Shameless, Season 9 (2-10-19): The recap of the episode is here.
Luis Guzmán played Mikey O’Shea. He and Frank Gallagher gained a sort of mutual respect for each other at the Hobo Loco Man contest but neither had any intention of letting that get in the way of winning. Frank asked Mikey if he was Irish and Mikey replied “Well, the dead junkie whose wallet I acquired was.” Frank tried to get rid of Mikey during the dumpster dive competition by trapping him in a dumpster but Mikey got out when the garbage truck came by and dumped him in the back. A pile of old Big Macs broke his fall. Mikey and Frank exchanged worried looks when they saw Gloria chow down on her crawling sushi, but she couldn’t have won that one– the contest was for the best dumpster meal, not the worst!
Nancy Linehan Charles and Rebecca Wackler played the two feisty gals at the nursing home where Tami volunteers. Audrey (on the right) sexually harassed Lip. Her “It’s been a long time since a boy’s run his fingers through my hair” was the least of it! The lady Tami called “Broom Hilda” brought up an old grudge she had against Tami’s Grandma Peggy for sleeping with her boyfriend back in the Stone Age. Tami didn’t think stuff like that should matter once you’ve celebrated your 75th birthday.
Reyna Calvillo played Santiago’s sister, Martina. Kevin and V thought that they were going to be foster parents to Martina but she just came by to pick up Santiago. Their father was deported back to Guatemala and their uncle was coming to pick them up and take them back. Martina said that the dinner was better than what she was fed when she was in a holding cell and thanked Kev and V for offering to foster them, followed up with tearjerker lines about how this country no longer wants “the tired and poor, yearning to be free.” It might have had more impact for Martina to tell Kev and V why her father wanted to leave Guatemala.
Ellen Wroe played the current owner of the Reeback house who did not want Liam selling lemonade and blasting Tyler the Creator in front of her house. (Here’s a link to the song that was playing if you want to listen to it). Now first of all, the owner wasn’t exactly my definition of a neighbor which is someone who lives next door or across the street from you, or at the very least, on the same block. So I think Fiona should have told Liam “next time, set up the lemonade stand on your own block,” instead of taking his side. She instigated another disturbance and turned it into a racist thing. Of course, she had no call to assault the woman. Secondly, when I was Liam’s age, I set my lemonade stand up in front of a bank on a main thoroughfare. Smarter.
