Oregon and Indiana Remain Undefeated While Penn State Falls in Big 10 Football
Top ranked Oregon is now the unanimous #1 in the latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll. The 9-0 Ducks beat Michigan 38-17 in Ann Arbor on November 2nd. Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel passed for 294 yards and a touchdown; he also ran for a score. The first year Big 10 member Ducks beat Ohio State earlier in the season, and are settling in nicely in their new conference home. Oregon will host Maryland (4-4) on November 9th.
Meanwhile, third ranked Penn State lost its first game of the season, losing to visiting Ohio State 20-13. Penn State got off to a 10-0 lead but was outscored 20-3 after that. The Buckeyes (7-1) advanced one notch in the polls, taking over that number three slot, while Penn State (7-1) dropped down to #6.
Oregon isn’t the only unbeaten Big 10 team. In one of the surprises of the season, Indiana is 9-0 and ranked #8. The Hoosiers pummeled Michigan State 47-10 in East Lansing. Quarterback Kurtis Rourke threw four touchdown passes in the victory. The Spartans led 10-0 at the end of the first quarter, but the Hoosiers scored 47 the rest of the way and stopped Michigan State cold. Indiana has had a less than difficult schedule; Washington and Nebraska (both 5-4) are the only opponents with records over .500 they have played so far. The Hoosiers host Michigan (5-4) next week and are at Ohio State (7-1) on November 23rd. Indiana will close out the regular season hosting Big 10 doormat Purdue (1-7) on November 30th.
