HBO “True Detective” Teaser

HBO has released this teaser trailer for its second season of “True Detective” which is set to premiere on Sunday, June 21st. Looks interesting but some dialogue would have been nice.

The new season stars Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a “compromised detective” in LA County. (Wonder if anyone calls him Velcro). Vince Vaughn will be Frank Semyon, “a criminal and entrepreneur.” That’s how his character is described on Den of Geek so we’re not sure if that signifies that he has a legitimate enterprise apart from his criminal activities. If not, wouldn’t he just be called a criminal? His wife is played by Kelly Reilly and she apparently has problems with the criminal part.

Two more on the side of law enforcement are Detective Ani Bezzerides, played by Rachel McAdams, and Paul Woodrugh, a California Highway Patrol motorcycle cop. who “discovers a crime scene which triggers an investigation involving three law enforcement groups, multiple criminal collusions, and billions of dollars.”

So Vince Vaughan is a bad guy and Colin Farrell is compromised, not above breaking the law he is sworn to uphold… and ooh! in the teaser you even see him putting on some brass knuckles before letting somebody have it. Will we end up liking either of them?

Last season, we ended up not liking either Matthew McConaughey’s or Woody Harrelson’s characters or the wife for that matter, but that was just us. The show was so popular that the Season 1 finale crashed the HBO Go site.
