WHAT ARE NATO & THE WARSAW PACT?

Here is the summary of the BBC’s “Bite-Size” study guide, “Reasons for the Emergence of the Cold War” – “The USA and the Soviet Union’s opposing political and economic beliefs caused the Cold War. NATO and the Warsaw Pact were established. Both competed in an arms race.” Pages 6 and 7 are specifically devoted to NATO and the Warsaw Pact, respectively.

The History Channel has a short youtube presentation on NATO vs. the Warsaw Pact. Here’s what one commenter got out of it: “The presenter is hot.” lol

Melissa wrote down “NATO & USSR.” She lost $4,600 and finished with $800.

Conor got it right. He bet $8,000, bringing him up to $17,600.

Sara had the U.S. and USSR. That only cost her $1,201. She finished with $8,399. That meant Conor Quinn won the game and a semi-final spot.

Doc is the first alphabetically, Dopey would have been the correct answer as second alphabetically.

Wow. This sounds like an EASY Final Jeopardy, for me. And Conor can’t be a world history teacher for nothing because of this clue. With 4 women teachers out, it looks like a man will win it all, but I have hopes that a woman will win.

  3. Lou says:

Looks like another wild card spot belongs to Sara as Mary is out. All those daily doubles she found and she confused Java with Jaiva? Melissa didn’t have much of a chance today and I thought the ladies knew something about the cold war John and VJ? But congratulations to conor. Just hope that we get some better performances from the ladies tomorrow

    • Richard Corliss says:

You mean Mariah not Mary. I hope so too. If Ellie wins and Dave and Ben lose all their money. Everyone will be saved.

    • VJ says:

The last time I can find where all 3 players in the 5th quarterfinal went to the semi-finals was in the 2016 Teachers Tournament

3 years ago, I went to D.C. to see a taping of the semifinals of this tournament. It was a great experience.

        • VJ says:

Awesome, Richard. Do you remember if it was the game Kaberi, Cory or Bill was in?

      • Richard Corliss says:

No. But I remember at that is Lauren Kaberi and Jill in the practice games.

    • John Christian Ambion says:

@Lou Conor can’t be a world history teacher for nothing. I hope that a woman will get that last semi-final spot because if either Dave or Ben wins, James Holzhauer has the house against 5 kings.

      • Richard Corliss says:

If Dave and Ben don’t make it, the wild cards will remain the same.

    • Richard Corliss says:

If 6 ladies are out this week then 6 men will be out next week.
