I was 2/3 on DD and got FJ. I’m not a big “Cabaret” fan, so I forgot that song. In case you didn’t know, Alice B. Toklas created the hashish brownie!

I have to sheepishly admit that I got FJ due to the movie!

I really thought I heard Jonathan said “On Flanders FieldS”, when it is “Field”. Either I’m wrong, or, they missed it!

First round preempted by news coverage of fed-related shooting here, then a slew of commercials. Good game, very balanced. I thought Pete might bet low on Final to try to nail down a wild card, just as he did on the last DD. I fouind the first/third DDs easy but went the wrong way on the 2nd. No clue on Final.

Surprised only 1 of 3 got the Brand Name from 2 years ago. There were 3 giveaways in the clue: the product name, the year, the source. Totally knew the ZIP acronym, I remember its inception in ’63. Tough one for a younger person. Also knew the one-vowel Jewish synagogue.

Did you mean to give away the answers to the 3 acronym stumpers?

  3. Richard Corliss says:

    Semifinalists:
    Stella Trout: $26,401
    Jonathan Hugendubler: $18,400
    Michelle Tsai: $14,398
    Harvey Silikovitz: $12,998

    Wild cards:
    Vickie Talvola: $13,600
    Cameron Berry: $12,599
    Bill McKinney: $12,200
    Dave Bond: $10,000
    ===================
    Pete Johnston: $3,199
    Dargan Ware: $2,200
    Geoff Barnes: $800
    Jason Singer: $0

  4. Kevin Cheng says:

Vickie and Cameron have both clinched the first two wildcards meaning they can’t be caught heading into tomorrow’s game. Bill McKinney and Dave Bond are leaning on hope that their scores will be enough to give them Wild-Card spots. Unfortunately for Pete and Dargan, they have both been eliminated and will each go home with 5,000. With one last quarterfinal game tomorrow, the scores to beat are $12,200 and $10,000.

  5. VJ says:

I had to include the Eddie Cantor song because it’s been stuck in my head ever since I read the clue!
