Brewers’ Christian Yelich Has Career Night In Wild 13-12 Win Over Reds
The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds 13-12 in 10 innings on August 29th in a game that featured 36 hits between the two clubs, 22 of which were by the Brewers. Six of those hits came from Christian Yelich; he not only hit for the cycle (single, double, triple, and home run), he added two more singles to his total, scored two runs, and drove in three others. Yelich raised his batting average to .319, putting him back in the lead in the National League stats. Oh, and he also had an outfield assist.
This is only the fourth six hit cycle in majors in the last 100 years. This game was a pitcher’s nightmare but great for those who love offense. Milwaukee’s Mike Moustakas was 4 for 6 at the plate with 3 RBIs, Cincinnati’s Billy Hamilton was 4 for 5, and there were nine home runs in the game. The Brewers’ Jesus Aguilar hit his 30th home run of the season and Milwaukee scored one more run on an RBI single by Erik Kratz in the 10th inning to give the Brewers a 13-11 lead. The Reds’ Brandon Dixon hit one out to center field in the bottom of the 10th but the Brewers managed to shut the door after that for a 13-12 victory.
Milwaukee is trying to keep pace with the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs in the tight National League Central race. The Brewers were the second Wild Card in the standings after the win.
