Blues Win 10th Straight, Surge Into Playoff Contention
Back on February 22nd, the St. Louis Blues record was 25-25-6 following a shootout loss to the Winnipeg Jets. The Blues had been hanging around the .500 mark for much of the season, a standard that won’t get you to the playoffs very often. Since that time, St. Louis righted the ship and started winning. On April 1st, the Blues scored a 2-1 overtime victory over the Detroit Red Wings for their 10th win in a row, and 16th with just three losses since February 22nd. St. Louis improved to 41-28-7 on the season, or 89 points, and is the top Wild Card in the Western Conference standings, one point ahead of Minnesota.
The Blues still have an outside shot of taking one of the Central Division automatic berths. With six regular season games remaining, St. Louis trails Colorado by five points for the third division automatic berth. The Avalanche and Blues face each other on April 5th.
