Baltimore Ball Girl Makes Nice Play on Fair Ball
It was 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning in the Baltimore Orioles vs. Toronto Blue Jays game on April 13th. With a runner on first base, Jays’ first baseman Edwin Encarnacion hit a sharp grounder down the third baseline that the ball girl made a very nice play on. Unfortunately, she was so focused on making the play that she didn’t notice that the umpire had signaled that it was a fair ball, not a foul ball.
Well now, that would be embarrassing. While it was ruled a ground rule double, which helped the Orioles since the runner on first probably would have scored, in the end it didn’t matter as Toronto beat Baltimore 11-3. So don’t sweat it young lady, it will be one of those stories you can tell your kids and grandkids someday.
