Craig found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “World Facts” under the $800 clue on the 15th pick of the round. He was in a second place tie with Brennan. They both had $2,000, $1,200 less than Bryce’s lead. He bet $1,000 and he was RIGHT.

Bryce finished in the lead with $6,800. Brennan was second with $5,400 and Craig was last with $1,800.

Bryce found the first Daily Double in “New Eponymous Animals” under the $800 clue on the 7th pick. He was in the lead with $11,600 at this point, $4,600 more than Brennan in second place. He bet that $4,600 and he was RIGHT.

Bryce finished in the lead with $22,200. Craig was next with $16,600 and Brennan was in third place with $11,000.

WHAT IS A BLIMP?
On October 21, 2016, Akron native Savannah James, wife of NBA star LeBron James, christened Wingfoot Two, Goodyear’s newest blimp, at Goodyear’s Wingfoot Lake Hangar in Suffield, Ohio. According to the news report on Goodyear’s site: “James joins the ranks of accomplished women to christen Goodyear blimps, including aviator Amelia Earhart (1929) and astronaut Dr. Sally Ride (2000).” Mrs. James’ family, as well as Wingfoot One’s christener, “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts (2014), attended the ceremony. Brennan got it right. He didn’t bet anything so he stayed at $11,000.
Craig got it right, too. He bet $5,201 bet, bringing him up to $22,001.
Bryce came up with “tire.” That cost him $11,401, landing him in third place with $10,799 and making Craig Tollin the new Jeopardy! champ.

Had Bryce said dirigible it also means the same as blimps and he would have won, right VJ? Also Bryce should have bet a little less than 10000 if he wanted to remain champion. The first round category it was so cold was too funny to watch, but good game by all the players. The blimp reminded me of the Hindenburg in 1937 , I’m sure you remember that event right?
@Lou, that was quite a game. At the middle point of the second round, Bryce had a $17,600 lead over Craig! Craig made some moves over those last 15 clues.
Interesting thought on dirigible. It never crossed my mind and I have no idea if it would have been accepted. I’ve heard of the Hindenburg, yes, but I don’t remember it. I’m not THAT old. (LOL!! – I’m kidding)

I came up with dirigible—didn’t know (or remember) it’s called a blimp. I also learned that the difference is a dirigible is rigid, whereas a blimp is not. Which led me to understand why overweight people are perversely referred to as a blimp. I never understood that before tonight.
Hmmm… well, it says right on that Goodyear Current Blimps page that the “Wingfoot Two is the second semi-rigid model (three are planned) to replace the GZ20A model blimps.” In the terminology section of the airship page on wikipedia, it says “Nowadays the term ‘airship’ is used only for powered, dirigible balloons, with sub-types being classified as rigid, semi-rigid or non-rigid.” So maybe they would have accepted airship and dirigible for all I know.
I only googled the definition of blimp and dirigible and that’s what came up—rigid and nonrigid. I didn’t want to research further, as it didn’t really interest me, to be honest. 🙂
And you’re probably right on their perhaps accepting the other 2 variations.
Well, I was saying I don’t know. I read that page when I found it on the Goodyear site but I didn’t connect it to dirigible at the time. I didn’t watch the video or read the paragraph next to it then. I just read the paragraph and it specifically refers to the Wingfoot Two as an airship: “the balloon-like body of the airship… is made of polyester” So yeah, looks like they would have to accept it now.
As for interest — in my world, I usually think of Blimpie sandwiches when blimps come up
