Alex Rodriguez took over Thursday night’s 11-7 victory against the Braves in Atlanta, demonstrating that he is still a force to be reckoned with even after his hip surgery.
Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with a home run, a walk and four RBI. The last time he drove in four RBI was on May 25 against the Rangers.
It was something of a surprise to some to see Rodriguez in the lineup at the Braves’ game, at all but he had the okay from both the team doctor, Chris Ahmad, and hip surgeon, Dr. Marc Philippon.
“They said he’s at the point where they feel he can play five or six days in a row,” Yankees’ manager, Joe Girardi said. “Alex feels good, he feels like he’s got a lot of energy in his legs. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow and check with him on Saturday and Sunday. If he feels good, we’ll let him keep going, because we need his bat in the lineup.”
