Queen Victoria’s coronation ring “was inspired by the ring made for her uncle, William IV, in 1831. According to an Archbishop William Howley biography by James Garrand, the stories about the incident “became a story which illustrated his incompetence rather than the incompetence of those who had wrongly made it to fit her fifth.” Howley had previously presided over the coronation of William IV and he later baptized some of Queen Victoria’s children.
Jim got it right. His $5,483 bet brought him up to $11,483.
Colin thought it was Bernadette. He only lost $1,400 to finish with $10,000.
Austin also got it. His $2,000 bet made today’s winning total $27,000 and gave him a 4-day total of $123,100.

@mimsy, well, he’s a bartender. Maybe someone played an Eagles song or songs so much that he never wanted to hear them again. lol.

When Austin Rogers got a clue wrong in the second round today, his score rose instead of deduct.
Meantime, Tim Kutz is surprisingly out of the ToC. And now we can blame Ben Yuhas for that, since he broke his runaway on the last clue of DJ! on February 23, 2016, and also won his first game, upsetting Kutz.
@Dalton, good catch. I didn’t even notice that and went back and watched. It was on his Cotton Club response. First it went from $26,600 to $28,200, then it went $26,600 right before Colin gave the right answer. Next time they showed the scores, he had $25,000.
Austin’s not gonna be on the tournament if he keeps on winning again.
Well, congrats to austin our first 4 time champion of season 34. I remember that in late september of 2014 Catherine Hardee made her first apperance winning big and got the payout of 95000 dollars for just 4 days despite not participating in the tournament of champions at that time since the list was already full. I wonder if this holds true for this year since we already have 15 people in the touranment of champions for 2017, VJ? Since I know Austin’s game occured before the toc.
Secondly, what the was the name of Queen Victoria’s husband after she had the ring put on by the archbishop?
@Lou, I don’t know the answer to the ToC question. Matt Jackson’s run (it was going on at this time in 2015 and his 6th game is on the 2-year link) ended in mid-October of that year and he was in the ToC that began on 11-9-15.
This clue is referring to Queen Victoria’s coronation in 1838. She married Prince Albert in 1840 and her husband put her wedding ring on her finger in that one. Archbishop Howley also married them.

He made a strong impression on me, William. Ever since that Teachers Tournament he won, I have looked at every ToC candidate as having to go up against him.
As for me, my money’s not on anybody, but I do think that all 15 participants are here to win the Tournament Of Champions, but of course, only 1 of them will win it, and because he’s won the most games: 12, and also won the most amount of money: $265,002, I think that Seth Wilson might be the biggest threat, meaning the favored in the tournament.
