It was funny that Robert brought up “robber baron” in his chat — it was the first thing I thought of when I saw his name. 🙂
Also, I think he just popped out with the first family member of Harriet Beecher Stowe that came to his mind — Lyman Beecher was her father. Coincidentally, her famous preacher brother was head of a Brooklyn church. He got in some hot water in the 1870s for fooling around with another man’s wife.

This is the third time that I have seen a contestant winning 96,000 dollars over the course of three games. Only two others won similar amounts back in March 2015 and 2016: Michael Bilow and Phillip Tiu. Also VJ, I was going for Trenton New Jersey as the populous city since it is in the northeast, right? If Austin wins game 4 tomorrow then I think he will have a streak going. What was dan mcshane’s winnings came out to be during his run?
@Lou, the answer had to be a place that was a city until 1898, but wasn’t a city after that. Trenton has been NJ’s capital city since 1790 and it still is. As for population, it’s not even in the Top 5 most populous NJ cities. I don’t think the population of any city in NJ is in the vicinity of a million.

Ah yes I see, thank you very much. Also, I’ve noticed that all three players blanked out on the chess category and here I thought they all played the game. Sure I might not have played it in a long time, but do you sometimes play the game yourself though at times, VJ? Looks like they might have forgotten about the basic moves.
Oh, I haven’t played chess in decades, Lou, though I did get all the clues in that category except the $1000 one .
I came to dislike chess because my brother used to pester me to play it a lot. He was a far superior player and the best I could hope for was a stalemate. If I got one, he would go bananas. Once he knocked the chess pieces on the floor and stomped all over them. I said, “good, now we can’t play anymore.” Two nights later, he showed up with the board and the men, all put back together with first aid tape and said they went to the Red Cross.
