WHO IS ANGELA MERKEL?

Prior to changing to “Person of the Year” in 1999, Time Magazine had several individual women on its cover as “Woman of the Year”: Wallis Warfield Simpson (1936), Queen Elizabeth II (1952) and Corazon Aquino (1986). After the change, Angela Merkel became the first female “Person of the Year” on Time’s cover, featuring Colin Davidson’s oil painting of the German chancellor.

For a complete list of covers, see wikipedia, which incredibly is more up to date than Time’s list!

Joe bet $3,999 bringing him up to $7,999.

Katia bet $9,599. She finished with $19,199.

Kyle bet $5,801 so he won with $20,201 today, giving him a 4-day total of $63,802. Looks like he’ll be off to New Zealand in style soon and can visit all those places that we filled in on the Thursday Sporcle quiz this morning.

Did anyone notice the clue about Sandra Bullock gave the wrong name of the young man? His name is Michael not Tony

    • VJ says:

@Shawna, she was talking to Michael about Tony. Here’s the clue — “Tony here is your quarterback, all right? You protect his blind side. When you look at him, you think of me”

She wasn’t addressing him as Tony. That would be — Tony (comma) here is your quarterback…

Great play by all the players and I’m glad there was a triple solve. My prediction for a four time champion in Kyle Becker came true. If he wins tomorrow then we have our first five time champion. I remember last December Tim Aten ran a streak of wins so I hope Kyle can get to his total, don’t you agree VJ? Also who was the previous chancellor of Germany before Merkel took over?

    • VJ says:

There were a lot of unsolved clues in these last 3 games so idk if I would say they were great. At times, it seems like Kyle can just let his challengers do themselves in. I guess they don’t play the Battle Hymn of the Republic much anymore, but anyway, Howe’s daughters wrote that Pulitzer prize-winning biography.

Gerhard Schröder was chancellor before Merkel.

I noticed, the topics in the last three games were hard but still I noticed none of the contestants are music fans since onerepublic didn’t.come to katia. That band had songs like secret, apologize, all the right moves and I did it all. That’s my favorite band. Furthermore, I think Seth and Austin s run had challengers shooting themselves in the foot when they played in 2016 and 2017 so it’s no surprise there. In the previous game, I was hoping one of the contestants would tie with Kyle and we would have a co champion right VJ?

        • VJ says:

@Lou, they don’t have co-champs anymore. If there was a tie, it would go to a tiebreaker clue.

Kyle may qualify for the next Tournament of Champions.
