WHAT IS POKÉMON?

Satoshi Tajiri’s love of bug collecting and video games led him to create the video game now known world-wide as “Pokémon.” It wasn’t an easy journey nor one of overnight success. Tajiri had already created a successful video game magazine called “Game Freak.” He came close to bankrupting his company in the process of creating the new game. You can find the whole story in Video Game Storytime’s 8 minute video on Tajiri’s life.

Ash Ketchum (Satoshi in Japan), protagonist of the Pokémon anime and manga series, was named after Satoshi Tajiri. Obviously, his English surname is a play on the tagline “Gotta catch ’em all.”

Matt got it right. His $10,399 bet brought him up to $20,799.

Amanda came up with Splat. She lost her $6,000 bet and had $6,400 left.

Marcus thought it was Centipede. He lost $10,001, dropping him down to $4,399. That made Matt Preston the new Jeopardy champ.

Too bad Marcus lost, I was looking forward to his next ‘Aloha Shirt’!

    • VJ says:

Yeah,, if he got up to 5 games, they could have highlighted his shirts in his 5-game streak video. I liked the one he had on yesterday the best.

Pokemon has been my favorite show and game for decades. Also are your kids a fan of the pokemon series vj? Centipede is from atari and not shopro. Plus VJ, you played Pac man and pole position that are also from atari when you were little right?

    • VJ says:

Yes, Lou, my youngest kid was and still is a Pokemon fan. I did play Pac Man back in the day, but I wasn’t little 🙂 Tetris, too. I was pretty good at that.

I used to have Pac man on the pc although I don’t know where it is now. However these games brings a lot of nostalgia back to us. Time to see if matt can build a streak just like Justin bender did back in 2016. We haven’t had a streak.winner since the tournament of champions.
