WHO IS MUHAMMAD?

Time and Date.com has loads of info on the Islamic Calendar, noting that the Year 1 began “in 622 CE when the Muslim prophet Muhammad migrated to Medina. This event is referred to as Hegira or Hijrah, accounting for the name Hijri calendar. In parallel with the letters AD (Anno Domini) used in the Christian calendar, years in the Islamic calendar are designated either H for Hijrah or AH, which stands for the Latin term Anno Hegirae.”

The Islamic New Year (Muharram) occurs on a different date each year. It can even be observed on 2 different dates in different places. Time and Date shows 28 countries marking the occasion on September 22nd, and two on September 21st (in the Quick Facts).

Jim thought it was the Dalai Lama. He didn’t bet anything so he stayed at $800.

It looked like Kelsey was going for Martin Luther, but she only got as far as the L. She lost her $3,000 bet, finishing with $2,400.

Kiana got it right. Having already won the game with $16,200, she didn’t feel the need to bet anything. Kiana’s 2-day total is $26,700.

Re Final Jeopardy, I knew Mohamed was born around 700 A.D.. so I thought it was a pretty easy clue.

My first post here. If I heard correctly, Kiana actually made a mistake with the answer to Vaso Cubrilovic–she called Archduke Franz Ferdinand “Duke” not “Archduke”–but she got the name right so they gave her the answer as correct. I wondered if the judges decided to ignore it or didn’t hear it correctly. Anyone else hear her say “Duke?” My hearing is pretty accurate in general, I think.

Hi Samoca, yes, I heard her say that. I would say the judges did, too, but didn’t want to split that hair

VJ, I neglected to answer you yesterday, you’re right, Kiana does resemble Meg Tilly quite a bit.

    • VJ says:

yes, I hope she knows it’s meant as a compliment if she see this, and congrats to Kiana on the runaway and lone correct FJ response.

@Lou, yes, I have heard of Ramadan but I confess I don’t know very much about the Islamic calendar.

  4. Lou says:

The prophet Muhammad, interesting, also you heard of Ramadan right, VJ? I wonder if that holiday was dedicated solely to the prophet as a sign of worship? Finally Dalai Lama is not on the calendar but people worships him a lot. I wonder why jim thought of that guy?

  5. Richard Corliss says:

Wow, Kelsey and Jim were up and down and couldn’t get any rhythm going today.
