WHAT ARE MONACO & MONGOLIA?

According to Worldometer’s sortable world population chart by country, Monaco is the most densely populated nation in Europe, with 25,970 people per sq. kilometer within its tiny borders. The much larger nation of Mongolia is the least densely populated in Asia with 2 folks per sq. kilometer. It says these figures are based on the 2017 U.N. Population Division estimates. Also, The Telegraph has an article (7/11/17 in honor of World Population Day) article listing the least and most populated places in the world.

They had a clue back in July 2017 that was similar to this one in trying to come up with countries that start (and in that case, end) with the same letters. If you really want to get a handle on countries that have similar beginnings and endings, try this Sporcle quiz, where you have to name all the countries of the world in 7 minutes by entering 3 letter chains they have in common.

Rebekah came up with Turkey & Turkmenistan. She only lost $600 and finished with $6,000.

Diana blanked out. She lost $3,000, leaving her $9,600.

Austin got it right. He added $10,000 and won the match with $25,500. His 9-day total is $332,400. “Ridiculous,” Austin remarked. Trebek assured him that he earned every penny of it.

I’m happy that Austin has won 9 games so far, and has won $332,400, and he’s only 1 win away from entering the Double Digit Club, but after seeing his 7th game, I’ve been going from wondering if Austin is keep these really big winnings up, and possibly breaking the single day record of $77,000 to wondering if Austin is a little tired.

Waltzing matilda was the same thing I thought of and I knew the response right away at the top of my head since I played Jumpstart 3rd grade mystery mountain and rearranged the pieces to the waltzing matilda song.

I’m surprised that clinton was the only president that Austin knew, why didn’t they know all the other presidents like Ford and Obama? That category wasn’t that tough but those clues could have been better worded, right VJ? And when Diana said George, she didn’t get dinged when it should have been sunday in the park with Jorge. Spanish is Horhay, don’t you agree VJ?

Congrats to austin on his 9th win. But when he goes up against Buzzy Cohen maybe we could see a double taunting towards trebek in the tournament of champions. It could happen.

idk why they got hung up on the Presidents category, Lou, and I have never heard them say Sunday in Park with Jorge before. The clue that I thought could have been presented better was that Pakistani Pirates pun.

The 2017 U.K. Pun Championships produced gems like “Pakistani Pirates.” This language “they think they argh”

The players always know Urdu is Pakistan’s language so, imo, the clue confused them. It was a funny pun though 🙂

The next time Austin hears “Waltzing Matilda,” he’ll remember that first Daily Double.

Down came a jumbuck to drink at that billabong.
Up jumped the swagman and grabbed him with glee.
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag:
“You’ll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me.”

    • KLM says:

Exactly the song I thought of, VJ, when I saw the clue. And happy that I knew the correct response!
