Zsa Zsa’s Leg Amputated

Sadly, 93-year-old actress Zsa Zsa Gabor had to have her right leg amputated on Friday January 14, 2010 because her surgeon felt he was left with little other choice after a large and deep lesion did not respond to antibiotics. The Hungarian actress, world famous as the second of the beautiful Gabor sisters (Magda being the oldest and Eva the youngest), has been a patient at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for two weeks while doctors tried to avoid the amputation of her right leg above the knee.

Dr. David Rigberg told the press that Zsa Zsa “seemed to tolerate it well, although she’s in a somewhat frail condition.”  He added that her prognosis is very guarded:  “She didn’t come in from home in very good health, so it’s difficult for me to predict how long she’s going to be here.”

Zsa Zsa’s current and 9th husband Prince Frederic Von Anhalt said he did not tell his wife that she was going to undergo an amputation. “Eventually, she will feel it, and then she will ask me and at that moment I don’t even want to think about it,” Von Anhalt said.

Sadder still, during this awful time in the decline of the actress’s health, Zsa Zsa daughter, Francesca Hilton, is evidently not getting along with her stepfather.  She complained that Zsa Zsa doctors are under orders from Von Anhalt to keep her away from her mother. Even if Von Anhalt and Francesca haven’t ever been able to get along, maybe they should make an effort at this difficult time for Zsa Zsa.

Francesca is Zsa Zsa’s only child, born during her second marriage to hotel magnate, Conrad Hilton.

Von Anhalt seems to be more than a bit eccentric at times, but he wouldn’t want his wife to pass away thinking her only child didn’t want to see her, would he?
