The New Jersey’s Devils own Zach Parise broke a scoreless tie in the United States’ quarterfinal game against Switzerland on Wed., Feb 24, 2010.
Anaheim Ducks goaltender, Jonas Hiller, made 42 saves for Switzerland and sports commentators commended his performance, but said the USA deserved the win.
When asked how he felt, Zach Parise told Sports Illustrated:
“Relief and excitement, especially in a tight game like that when you are doing everything but score,” referring to the fact that his first 13 shots in the tournament produced no results.
“The goalie was great and we did a good job of sticking with it. We were pretty confident and said just keep putting pucks at him,” he added.
What’s up next? On Friday, The USA team goes up against Finland who whupped the Czech Republic later on Wednesday (2-0).
