Mets Fans Patiently Wait and Wait for Carlos Beltran to Return
When New York Mets centerfielder Carlos Beltran had knee surgery back in January, he was expected to begin running in mid April and rejoin the team in early May. However the New York Daily News reported Beltran was fitted with a custom knee brace on April 20th and has not been given medical clearance to begin running. And Mets broadcaster Ron Darling said on a sports talk radio show that the Mets don’t expect him back “anytime soon”.
So now it looks like the five time All-Star who is in the midst of a seven year $119 million contract may be back in June. Or probably July.
Beltran played in only 81 games last year due to injuries, which is exactly half the schedule. Optimistically, he could play in that many again this year. So the Mets may get one season out of him for the price of two. So hang in there, Mets fans, he’ll be back. Sometime.
