Warriors’ Depth Carries Them to Victory in Game 1 of the NBA Finals

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were scored just 11 and nine points respectively for Golden State in Game 1 of the NBA Finals but the Warriors still rolled to a 104-89 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Oakland. This time it was the Warriors’ outstanding—and deep—bench that was the star of the show. The nonstarters scored 45 points including 20 from Shaun Livingston, which was twice as many as Cleveland’s entire bench.

Draymond Green led the Warriors with 16 points. Seven players scored in double figures for Golden State. Livingston was 8 for 10 from the field and Leandro Barbosa was five for five, scoring 11 points in just 11 minutes of playing time. Cleveland will try to even it up in Game 2 of the series on June 5th.
