Vote for Students’ Google Doodles

The finalists in the Google Doodle contest are waiting for your votes. In its 8th annual contest, Google received over 100,000 submissions that have been narrowed down to 53 state-level winners in five age categories by a panel of judges that included NBA star, Stephen Curry, and astronaut, Dr. Yvonne Cagle.

The theme for the contest was “What makes me… me.”

Google spokesman Patrick Lenihan says “Every state winner gets a tablet PC and a sweatshirt,” and added that Google also gives in-kind donations to schools based on the doodles, “In a lot of cases, we’re giving donations of art supplies or sports supplies, book donations for their libraries, every school gets a little something.”

The national winner will win a $30,000 college scholarship and a trip to Google headquarters in Mountain View, CA, to work with the Google Doodle team, putting up the winning doodle on the Google homepage. How cool is that? His or her school will receive a $50,000 Google for Education grant toward the establishment and improvement of a computer lab or technology program.

You have until February 22, 2016 to vote at DOODLE 4 GOOGLE.

The winner will be announced on March 21st.
